Physiotherapy in Ireland for Indian Students: Study Routes, CORU Registration, Jobs & Visas (2025)
Last updated: 25 Sep 2025
Goal: become a licensed physiotherapist in Ireland. This simple guide covers study routes (BSc/MSc), CORU registration, post-study work (Stamp 1G), and job pathways.
Why Ireland for Physiotherapy?
Ireland is respected for clinical training and patient safety. Physiotherapy roles remain in demand, with strong clinical placements during study and clear routes into full-time practice.
Tip: Demand often reflects in national recruitment drives (HSE) and skills lists. Always check the latest requirements on official sites.
CORU Registration (Your Licence)
Physiotherapy is a regulated profession. To use the title Physiotherapist and practise in Ireland, you must register with CORU (Physiotherapists Registration Board). ISCP membership is optional but common.
Two Routes to Practise
Route A — Study in Ireland
Complete an Irish CORU-approved degree (BSc or pre-registration MSc). On graduation, proceed to CORU registration and job applications. These programmes include supervised clinical placements aligned with Irish standards.
Route B — Already have BPT/MPT from India?
Apply to CORU for recognition of your international qualification. If CORU finds substantial differences vs Irish standards, you may need a compensation measure (aptitude test or supervised period of adaptation in Ireland) before registration.
