Ireland September 2027 Intake: Which Universities Are Open (Live Tracker)

By · · 7 min read

This is a live tracker — the status table below carries the exact date it was last updated and changes as each university confirms its September 2027 intake.

Quick Read

  • Applications for the September 2027 intake are already opening at several Irish universities — this is a live tracker we keep current.
  • Open now: University College Dublin, University of Galway, TUS, University College Cork (postgraduate), Maynooth University and Dublin City University.
  • Expected soon (not yet announced): University of Limerick, TU Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Griffith College and National College of Ireland.
  • Exact course deadlines vary by programme — always confirm on the university’s official page, which we link for each.
  • Apply early: scholarships and popular courses fill well before any final deadline — early is the real deadline.
  • Not our first intake: across our study destinations we’ve guided 2,900+ university offers and 800+ student-visa approvals — this Ireland tracker is run by the same team that files those cases.

If you’re planning a September 2027 start in Ireland, the smart time to act is now — the first universities have already opened, and applying early is the single biggest advantage you can give yourself. Because intake openings are rolled out university by university over several weeks, we maintain this page as a living tracker and update it as each one confirms. The status table below shows the exact date it was last updated.

We’ve done this for years — this isn’t a first. Across all our study destinations, Mentors Circle students have secured 2,900+ university offers and €910,000+ in scholarships, and 800+ of their student visas have been approved. For Ireland specifically, our decided visa files run at roughly a 96% approval rate. So this tracker isn’t us watching from the outside: it’s maintained by the same team that shortlists, applies and files visas for these students every week.

Why applying early matters more than the deadline

The final deadline is rarely the date that decides your outcome. On Irish applications, three things reward early movers — and punish late ones:

  • Scholarships fill early. Merit awards at universities like UCD and University of Galway are limited and often allocated as strong applications come in — wait, and the money can be gone before the course deadline.
  • Popular courses close sooner. High-demand programmes (business, data/computing, analytics) frequently fill and shut ahead of the official deadline.
  • Visa timing. You still need an offer, funds and a student-visa decision before September — and the earlier your file is clean, the calmer that runs. See our Ireland visa processing-time data and visa document checklist.

In other words: treat “applications open” as your cue to start, not “deadline day” as your target.

How to apply for the September 2027 intake

The process is the same across most universities: shortlist your course and university, get your documents ready (transcripts, degree certificate, CV, SOP, LORs and an English test — IELTS/PTE/Duolingo), then apply through the university’s official route linked above. Exact course deadlines, fees and entry requirements live on each university’s own page — always confirm there before you plan around a date. Not sure which universities fit your profile, marks or budget? That’s where a quick counselling call saves weeks.

Getting in is step one — the visa is what gets you to Dublin

An offer letter doesn’t put you on the plane; the Ireland student visa does — and that is where most of the real risk sits for a September 2027 start. It is also where having done this hundreds of times matters most. Our visa desk tracks every decision the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi publishes and files each student’s AVATS application against those refusal patterns before it goes in. It is the same approach behind 800+ student-visa approvals across our destinations — and for Ireland specifically, our decided files run at roughly a 96% approval rate.

Keeping this page current

This is a living tracker, not a one-time post. Each time another Irish university opens its September 2027 intake, we move it into the “Open” list and refresh the “last updated” date at the top. Bookmark it, or talk to us and we’ll flag the moment your target university opens.

Frequently asked questions

When do September 2027 applications open in Ireland?

They open on a rolling basis from late 2026 onwards, university by university. Several are already open (see the tracker above); others are expected to follow over the coming weeks.

Is it too early to apply for September 2027?

No — for the universities already open, early applications have the best shot at scholarships and popular courses, and the calmest visa timeline. Early is an advantage, not a risk.

Which Irish universities are open for September 2027 right now?

As of the last-updated date: UCD, University of Galway, TUS, UCC (postgraduate), Maynooth and DCU. Others are expected to open soon.

Do I need my IELTS/PTE before I apply?

Many universities let you apply and submit your English score a little later, but having it ready strengthens your application — sit the test early.

How hard is the Ireland student visa from India?

Most refusals come down to finances and documentation, not the student’s profile — which means a correctly built file does well. Across our decided Ireland visa files, approvals run at roughly 96%. The earlier your file is clean, the smoother it runs; see our visa checklist and processing-time data linked above.

Where do I find the exact deadline for my course?

On the university’s official page, linked for each in the tracker — course-level deadlines vary, so always confirm there.
